Unable to Activate Word - Error Code OxO

I renewed Microsoft 365 in order to use Word, which is installed on my MacBook Air. It seems to open but will not allow editing. I am asked to activate, but when I try, I get "Error Code OxO." How can I activate and again use Word editing features?

    This error on Office for Mac is a known issue that has been resolved through updates.

    Is your Mac running macOS 12 or later? If yes, close all Office applications and open Microsoft AutoUpdate by going to Finder > Applications > Microsoft AutoUpdate. Select Update All, or update Word individually if an update is available. Once the updates are complete, open Word again and try activating it.

    If you installed Word from the Mac App Store, open the App Store, select Updates, and update Microsoft Word or select Update All.
