Gmail wont work when I try to change the alias to a microsoft account

I have two microsoft accounts, however I wanted to transfer the email on one of the accounts to the other.

So, I got a backup email, changed the primary alias on the account, and now the email should be free so I can transfer it to the other account.

But when I try to change the primary alias on that other account, it says it's still connected to a microsoft account, even though I had already removed it.

I wanted to see if this account was still connected, so I tried signing in with this email, but it couldn't find an account.

I'm really hoping this is a glitch i can wait out and not that my email is locked up forever.

    Hi Real Hello,

I understand that the Gmail address was removed from one personal Microsoft account, but it is still reported as connected to an account when you try to add it to the other account.

Please note that this is a user-to-user forum, so contributors cannot access accounts or manually release an alias.

A non-Microsoft address such as Gmail should usually become available after being removed. First, sign in to the original account on the Manage how you sign in to Microsoft page and confirm that the Gmail address is no longer listed under Account aliases. Changing the primary alias alone does not remove the Gmail address.

For reference, see Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com.

If the Gmail address is no longer listed but still cannot be added to the second account, contact Microsoft Support so the account association can be reviewed:

    1. Visit the Microsoft Support contact page: Contact - Microsoft Support
    2. In the search bar provided on the page, type "Account Security" and press Enter.
    3. Click on the "Get Help" button that appears.
    4. Scroll down the page until you see and click on the "Contact Support" option.
    5. When prompted to select your product or service, choose "Other Products".
    6. For the category, choose "Manage Account Security".
    7. Look for and click on "Chat with a support agent in your web browser".
    8. When prompted, provide a valid contact email where Microsoft can reach you regarding your case.
    9. Explain your situation clearly: Be concise but provide all the relevant details.

I hope Microsoft Support can verify the remaining association and advise on releasing the Gmail address.
