Welcome Raymond,
I understand how frustrating it can be when Windows 11 accepts your PIN at the sign-in screen, but does not accept the same PIN when prompted to install apps or authorize administrative actions.
Before proceeding, I would like to narrow down the issue:
- Is the PIN prompt appearing when installing apps from the Microsoft Store, or when installing desktop applications downloaded from the web?
- Are you signed in with a Microsoft account or a local account on this PC?
In the meantime, you can try these steps below to troubleshoot the issue:
Option 1: Use your account password instead of the PIN
- When the credential prompt appears, select More choices
- Choose Password and enter your account password
Option 2: Remove and re-add Windows Hello PIN.
- Open Settings > Accounts > Sign-in options
- Select PIN (Windows Hello)
- Remove the PIN, restart the PC, and create a new PIN
Option 3: Reset the Microsoft Store cache
- Press Windows + R
- Type wsreset.exe and press Enter
- Wait for the Store to reopen automatically
Option 4: Repair system files.
- Open Command Prompt as Administrator
- Run:
-
sfc /scannow -
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
-
I hope the steps above help you deal with your issue.
