A tool for managing user identities, credentials, and access across on-premises and cloud environments
If this is a work or school account, update the sign-in verification phone number at https://mysignins.microsoft.com/ if access is still available:
- Open Security info.
- Find the old phone number and select Change.
- Enter the new phone number and complete verification.
If sign-in is blocked because verification is still going to the old number, the organization’s IT help desk or Microsoft 365 admin must reset the MFA/authentication phone number.
If this is a personal Microsoft account, go to Manage how you sign in to Microsoft and add the new phone number first, make it primary if needed, then remove the old one. A primary alias cannot be removed until another email address or phone number exists on the account.
If access to the old verification methods is completely lost on a personal account, select “I don’t have any of these” during sign-in to start account recovery. Microsoft allows adding new contact information through that process, but it includes a 30-day waiting period.
