I can't enable cloud backup of the authenticator app

I can't enable cloud backup of the authenticator. I get asked to send the logs. But dont know where to get thw logs or to send them to. I need to restore to a new device. Why is it not letting me enable backup of the app? This is for android device. I am signed in. It won't even let me switch accounts. 1000536224

Yeah I have the same issue, I can't transfer to a new phone when trying to recover from existing account with a backup. I even disabled the cloud backup on the old phone with the same account that was backup configured, aan tried to enable it again but got the same error. I am trying for a second day now, but seems is global problem, let's hope temporary.

Same issue, not possible to back into cloud. Date of last backup was May 11 but I wanted to update it since I want to recover on new device(which doesn't work either)

I have the same issue and followed the advice, deleted cache and data....guess what, yep that's right now my authenticator app has no accounts, so lost everything ! Well done Microsoft you sack of sh!t.

So now I can't gain access to the multiple company stuff needed and other day to day nonsense you need to weave thru these days, just to keep some so called enhanced level cyber security cr@p ! World's gone 2nd 3rd 4th level security crazy and for what exactly? Never had an issue in 40yrs of online activity, suddenly this authentication garbage comes along and everything's f*cked !

Logged case with MS today for this, it has been since 10 May that unable to sign in to backup. The MS support is hopefully going to fix the backend issue

Has anyone in this thread been able to resolve this issue, or have we all just ignored and moved on from it? For people who are unable to restore their backup, I'm assuming you've moved on by re-importing to another app or? Just wanted to see where people are at, since I am in a quite of predicament myself with a bunch OTPs with 3rd party websites without any alternative methods to authenticate or recovery keys. Contacted MS Chat this morning, and obviously they weren't much of a help at all. For me my backup stopped back in November last year, and I just found out yesterday. Trying to fix it, actually made it worse as I've lost all my OTPs and unable to recovery because of this issue.

I have same issues on Microsoft Authenticator since yesterday. Last I turn off an enable cloud backup without problem was 11 may 2026. First time this happen for me. Microsoft support needs fix this with a new update.

Having the same issue, backup was working back in March on a Pixel Android phone, now no longer working and getting this errror message something went wrong, I have submitted the information via send feedback.

No real answer

But I post the same answer I was giving in another thread with the same issue

As every other thread participant before: I experience the same issue.

Backup did not work, last one was on may 9th. Followed the general advice disable/enable backup and now I'm stuck with an MS Autneticator with many OTPs and no way to backup and therefore no chance to restore to 2nd device.

The AI Q&A answer does not help in any way.

Maybe a real human can take care of this?

Only way I see now: use MS Auth only for the 365 accounts etc and move everything else to a 2FA App which is capable of doing proper backups with a bit more of control for the user.
