Amid a very memorable second-round series win over the Celtics, the Knicks played a very forgettable Game 5. Boston, playing its first game after Jayson Tatum ruptured his Achilles, blew out New York 127-102 behind an impressive team-wide effort to save its season.

The Knicks were outscored 32-17 in that third quarter when Brunson picked up the five fouls. Brunson had just two points in the quarter. With the Knicks trailing 91-76, coach Tom Thibodeau put Brunson back in the game to start the fourth quarter. He only made it to the 7:19 mark before committing his sixth foul and fouling out.

It seemed like New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson was waving goodbye to Boston Celtics fans during Game 5 of their second-round series because he believed his team would close things out in Game 6 and not return.
