On two consecutive nights, there were questions about whether Juan Soto was hustling down the line after putting the ball in play.
Mets slugger Juan Soto has sparked criticism for a lack of hustle over the last couple of nights. One day after not breaking swiftly out of the batter’s box to first base against the Yankees, Soto was again slow against the Boston Red Sox on Monday night when he hit a ball off the Green Monster in the sixth inning.
Gary Cohen nor Keith Hernandez took too kindly to Soto’s hustle out of the box on his long fly-ball single off the Green Monster in Monday’s 3-1 loss to the Red Sox on Boston — especially after a situation in Sunday’s loss to the Yankees, where Soto didn’t run hard on a play in which many people thought he could beat out the throw.
