The Triple Crown's middle jewel was won by Kentucky Derby runner-up Journalism, who went off as the even-money favorite and had to overcome severe traffic problems at the top of the stretch under jockey Umberto Rispoli.

The race favorite, going off at even odds, fought his way to an incredible win at Pimlico, surging from multiple lengths behind in the last half-mile to win by a nose. Longshot Gosger placed and Sandman showed in a two-horse finish.

The question after a weekend of Thoroughbred racing is whether Saturday's Preakness Stakes winner Journalism will move on to the Belmont Stakes and another showdown with the horse who beat him in the Kentucky Derby.
