Winnipeg top center Mark Scheifele scored a goal in the Jets' must-win Game 6 of their second-round playoff series at Dallas on Saturday night, hours after the unexpected death of his father. Scheifele scored his fifth goal of the playoffs 5 1/2 minutes into the second period to give the Jets a 1-0 lead.

Stars head coach Pete DeBoer called Scheifele a “courageous young man” after he played following his father’s death.

Prior to Thursday, Dallas had its way in the series. The Stars won Game 1 (3-2), Game 3 (5-2) and Game 4 (3-1), but both of their losses have been shutouts. In order to knock out Winnipeg for good, the Stars need to figure things out offensively. Dallas is too talented to have such a struggle scoring.
