Riley Greene had three hits, including a go-ahead RBI double in the ninth inning, to lead the Detroit Tigers to a 5-4 victory over the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday night at Busch Stadium. The Tigers (32-17) and Cardinals (27-22) have split the first two games of the three-game series.

The Tigers wasted no time getting on the board, likely wanting to build run support for Skubal as quickly as possible, considering how things went on Monday. Kerry Carpenter hit his 10th homer of the season to put the Tigers on the board with their first batter.

ST. LOUIS – The Detroit Tigers hadn’t lost a series opener since Houston back in late April. They were 13-2 coming into their three-game series with the Cardinals. Now they’re 13-3, mostly thanks to Sonny Gray, who apparently likes to pitch against the Tigers, and stifled them as St. Louis won 11-4.
