Mets slugger Juan Soto has sparked some criticism this week for a lack of hustle over the last couple of nights. One day after not breaking swiftly out of the batter’s box to first base against the Yankees, Soto was again slow against the Boston Red Sox on Monday night when he hit a ball off the Green Monster in the sixth inning.

Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said he’ll talk to Juan Soto about hustling out of the batter’s box after the slugger watched his would-be home run bounce off the Green Monster for a single against the Red Sox.

Willis noted that Soto went a disappointing 1-for-10 with no RBI in last weekend’s Subway Series against the rival Yankees. Although Soto scored two runs and drew four walks, it didn’t keep the Mets from losing two of three.
