Worker at New Orleans jail arrested in connection with inmate escape
According to an arrest affidavit, maintenance worker Sterling Williams admitted to turning off water in a jail cell, which enabled ten inmates to escape through the wall. Williams told investigators one of the fugitives had threatened to “shank” him if he did not comply.
Danielle Williams is advocating for her son’s release, after he was arrested on Monday. He is accused of helping 10 inmates escape from the Orleans Justice center.
Sterling Williams' attorney said he was not threatened into helping the inmates escape and that he was simply the maintenance worker on duty the night of the plot.
