Google says Gemini will make interactions in the car feel far more fluid. Instead of issuing stiff, robotic commands — “Navigate to Starbucks” — you’ll be able to speak naturally and combine multiple tasks. For example: “Text Sarah, I’m on my way, and tell me how long it’ll take to get to the Thai place we went to last month.”
With Google's next major Android update, you'll soon be able to access the powerful Gemini assistant wherever you are.
The technology will be available for other vehicles with Google built-in later this year, including the new Lincoln Nautilus and Honda Passport.
Software update 14.4, which is available now in the beta testing program, has made a number of subtle tweaks to its so-called ‘Coolwalk screen’, which essentially offers a number of applications in one, easy-to-navigate interface on Android Auto-compatible vehicle head units and vehicles running the Android Automotive OS.
But don't imagine you'll use Gemini in Android Auto to rehearse talking to your boss.
Google's AI-powered assistant Gemini is now available for your car in the latest Android Auto 14.4 beta update.
The news in question comes from Android Authority in partnership with Assemble Debug, who report that Google is adding a new bar to the Gemini overlay's prompt box at the bottom of the screen that, when users swipe up on it, will switch Google Gemini from its overlay setting to a full-screen mode.
