The Dallas Mavericks are thanking their lucky stars after landing the No. 1 overall pick in this year's NBA Draft, a move that likely wouldn't have happened if they didn't trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers.
The team is only in a position to draft that prospect because it was bad. It takes a few years to get good. Keeping a good team together is expensive and not really possible indefinitely in the current CBA environment.
