Talks aimed at settling a strike between train engineers and New Jersey’s huge commuter railroad resumed Saturday and are set to continue Sunday.
The striking engineers have complained that their counterparts at other railroads that serve New York City earn at least $10 more per hour.

NJ Transit engineers began their strike overnight on Friday morning, affecting hundreds of thousands of commuters. While the number of travelers decreases on a typical Friday post-pandemic, there are two huge sporting events in New York on Friday night that a large chunk of attendees will need to find an alternate route.
Alehonso Jordan, who works overnights in Newark and lives in New York said he didn’t hear about the strike until a co-worker told him about it. Jordan checked the NJ Transit app and saw the “bright red warnings” about the work stoppage.
NJ Transit engineers are preparing to walk off the job on Friday, which could affect 350,000 commuters in New Jersey and New York City.
