Gov. Andy Beshear is giving a live update on the impacts of the deadly May 16 tornado that hit Kentucky and the state's ongoing response.

Hearts are heavy across Kentucky in the wake of deadly tornadoes that slammed the state last week, but despite that, first responders and volunteers, some of whom are high school students, continue recovery efforts to rebuild communities that were leveled by the storms.

A few storms may be possible Tuesday morning, but the main threat for strong-to-severe thunderstorms comes in the afternoon to evening hours. Damaging winds, excessive rain and isolated tornadoes are all possible. Make sure you stay weather aware and have a way to receive severe weather alerts.

An apparent powerful tornado tore through Russell, Pulaski and Laurel County in Kentucky late Friday night, leaving a trail of destruction and killing several.

Meteorologists with the NWS Paducah office have also confirmed several tornadoes in its region the afternoon and evening of May 16. Three tornadoes impacted western Kentucky, including an EF-3 tornado in Morganfield with winds of 155 mph, an EF-2 tornado in Allegre and an EF-2 tornado in Casky.

Forecasters warned Monday that more tornados and storms were possible in the central U.S. as people from Texas to Kentucky cleaned up from severe weather that has killed more than two dozen people in four days.
