The National Weather Service has begun surveying damage in Colorado from Sunday afternoon's tornadoes. They are considering radar and wind speeds to determine the strength of the tornado activity. That process can take up to 48 hours to help those seeking federal aid or insurance.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, tornado alley is known as a region across the central United States with relatively high tornado occurrences. This region shifts south in May and June, with tornado alley ranging into parts of Colorado near the Kansas and Wyoming border.
