Masters champion Rory McIlroy rode his luck as he made an error-strewn start to his bid for back-to-back major titles in the 107th US PGA Championship. McIlroy’s nerve-shredding victory at Augusta National made him just the sixth male golfer to complete a career grand slam and gave him a fifth major title, one behind Sir Nick Faldo.

McIlroy’s driver was reportedly ruled non-conforming on Tuesday at the PGA Championship, and three days later McIlroy had hit just 10 fairways through 36 holes.

Although it is really too hard to imagine that Rory will win the trophy after all, there are fanatics of this sport who believe that the Northern Irishman can excel in the next two rounds.
