During a meeting at the Vatican on Monday, U.S. Vice President JD Vance gifted Pope Leo XIV a personalized Chicago Bears jersey and extended an invitation to visit the United States ahead of the U.S.-led push for ceasefire negotiations in Russia’s war in Ukraine.

Pope Leo XIV will preside over his inaugural mass today in front of St Peter’s Basilica, which marks the formal start of his papacy. JD Vance, Marco Rubio and Volodymyr Zelenskyy are attending.

Ukraine was hit with one of the largest known drone attacks from Russia, including over 273 that pummeled the central Kyiv region as well as the Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions,
