While Dallas has said that they do plan on keeping the pick and selecting Flagg first overall, former NBA player DeMarcus Cousins believes that they should instead trade the pick to the Phoenix Suns for Kevin Durant for one major reason.
Demarcus "Boogie" Cousins offered his take on who should be selected with the first pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, and it was surprisingly not Cooper Flagg.
Presumptive No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg interviewed with the Celtics last week at the NBA Draft combine, an unexpected interaction between the former Duke star and Brad Stevens, Boston's president of basketball operations.
Boston also reportedly met with projected lottery pick wing Tre Johnson of Texas, but both he and Flagg will be long gone by the time the Celtics pick at Nos. 28 and 32. And though the Celtics may have to shed some salary ahead of the 2025-26 season as they prepare to play without the injured Jayson Tatum, a blockbuster deal may be unlikely.
Boogie Cousins has named a different top NBA prospect as the player that should be drafted with the No. 1 overall pick in 2025 over Cooper Flagg.
