Microsoft Corp. today announced the launch of Microsoft Discovery, a new enterprise-grade artificial intelligence platform built to revolutionize the research and development process by embedding “agentic AI” at every stage of scientific discovery.

Microsoft has laid off approximately 6,000 employees in its latest round of job cuts, affecting several divisions across the company. Among those impacted is Gabriela de Queiroz, Director of AI at Microsoft and a well-known advocate for ethical and inclusive artificial intelligence.

In addition, Windows AI Foundry will also support the large number of developers who are building their own LLMs. It said Windows ML will act as the built-in AI inference runtime to streamline model deployment across every CPU, GPU and NPU.
