Unable to access our company's Azure tenant as suddenly all of our logins are considered personal and can't log into the tenant including the admin login.

Hi,

I was the admin of the azure tenant. We actually don't use it much as we're very small and I'm actually the only active developer right now. We were actually just using visualstudio.com for git repo, project management, pipelines and to push some nuget packages out. We had some containers from the build pipeline we stored in Azure, I think that's what the Azure account was original made for. Anyway recently something changed and when I went to do a push of a git commit it failed and I was no longer to get into our VisualStudio.com anymore. The account I was using was personal. I guess the admin account is also personal because when I log in with it it's just asking me to sign up, our actual Azure tenant isn't there.

I need help I'm thinking having that admin account converted into a corporate account that's admin of our tenant instead of being personal. The tenant is just orphaned now along with all our source code repos and the other things I mentioned. I can log in with our admin account as a personal account, I have our invoices, I know our Azure tenant ID, etc. I wasn't able to submit a ticket about this and nobody has taken my support call online and it's been an hour on hold. This is really frustrating and concerning as all our source code is in there. Can someone help?

    Hello Apex Investing Institute,

Greetings! Thanks for raising this question in Q&A forum.

I understand how concerning this is, especially when your source code repositories and Azure resources are involved. Based on your description, this appears to be a tenant access or identity issue where the Microsoft account that was previously associated with the tenant is no longer being recognized as a member of that Microsoft Entra ID tenant. In this situation, forum-level troubleshooting is very limited and Microsoft Support needs to verify tenant ownership.

    1. Try signing in directly to the Azure portal using your known tenant ID and confirm whether the tenant still appears in the directory switcher.
    2. Verify whether any other administrator account, emergency access account, or partner account has access to the tenant.
    3. Gather the information you already have available, including:
      • Tenant ID
      • Subscription and billing details
      • Invoice information
      • Domain ownership details (if applicable)
      • Any historical administrator accounts associated with the tenant
    4. Contact Microsoft Azure Support and request escalation for a tenant access recovery or tenant ownership validation case. Explain that the tenant appears orphaned and that previously working administrator accounts are now being treated as personal accounts.
    5. If you cannot create a support ticket because of the sign-in issue, continue through the phone support route and request review by the Data Protection/Account Recovery team for tenant ownership verification.

The next action is with Microsoft Support. After ownership validation, they can review the tenant configuration, verify account mappings, and help restore administrative access to the Azure tenant and associated services.

    Best Regards,
