Then changed it back rebooted the devices several times and still nothing has changed. How can I resolve this issue

    Good day Dayshanon,

Thank you for sharing your concern.

This issue is usually caused by one of the following: the Teams Rooms device is signed in with the wrong resource account, the Teams Rooms license hasn't finished provisioning, the required Teams service plan is not properly assigned, or there is a sign in issue with the room account that is preventing license validation.

To help isolate the cause, please review the following steps:

Option 1: Verify the room resource account configuration

    Step 1: Account type

Please make sure the Teams Rooms device is signed in with a dedicated room account, not a regular user account.

Step 2: Check the mailbox  Verify that the resource account has an active room mailbox in Exchange and that the mailbox is accessible without any issues.

Step 3: Verify sign in status  Confirm the account is enabled, the password hasn't expired and sign in isn't blocked.

Step 4: Validate account details  Check that the User Principal Name (UPN) and primary email address are correct and that no recent changes have been made that could affect authentication.

    Step 5: Verify licensing

I understand that you recently reassigned the Teams Rooms Basic license, so please allow some time for provisioning to complete before testing again. Additionally, you should check that the required Teams service plans are enabled.

    Example:

    User's image

Option 2: Run the Teams Rooms sign in connectivity test

This test can help identify licensing, authentication, Exchange, Teams, Conditional Access, or device registration issues that may not be visible from the device interface.

Open the Microsoft Teams Rooms sign in connectivity test

Sign in using an administrator account.

Enter the affected room resource account.

Select the appropriate Teams Rooms device type.

    Complete the verification process.

    Run the test.

Review any failed checks, warnings, or recommendations.

Apply the suggested remediation steps and test the device again.

Please pay close attention to any findings related to license validation, Exchange connectivity, Teams sign in, device registration, Conditional Access policies or authentication failures.

Additional information is available in the following resource: Fix Teams Rooms resource account sign-in issues - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

    Option 3: Contact Microsoft Support

If the issue still persists after trying the steps above, you may consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. You can create a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center > Support > Help & Support.

A technical support engineer can perform a remote session to investigate the situation, verify the backend configurations, and run any necessary synchronization tools to resolve the problem. If the issue requires further attention, they can escalate it to a specialized team for deeper analysis.

I hope this information is helpful. If you have any questions or need further support, please don’t hesitate to reach out at any time.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

If the room shows No license found after the license was removed, re-added, switched between Teams Rooms Pro and Teams Rooms Basic, and the device was rebooted, use this check path:

    1. Confirm the account signed in on the device is the actual Teams Rooms resource account
      • The device must sign in with the room’s resource account.
      • That account must be password enabled.
      • If the wrong account is signed in, the device can appear unlicensed even when another account has the correct license.
    2. Verify the assigned license type
      • Teams Rooms devices should only be assigned Microsoft Teams Rooms Pro or Microsoft Teams Rooms Basic.
      • Shared meeting devices require a Teams Rooms license. Enterprise per-user Microsoft 365 suite licenses aren’t authorized for shared meeting devices.
      • In Microsoft 365 admin center, go to Users > Active users > select the resource account > Licenses and apps and confirm the room account has Teams Rooms Pro or Teams Rooms Basic assigned.
    3. Check whether the device is actually failing license detection
      • Download the device diagnostic logs.
      • Extract the .zip file and go to App\Microsoft\Teams.
      • Open Logs.txt.
      • If this appears, the account is not being recognized as licensed: errorCode: FailedAuthentication, errorStep: get_skype_license, errorState: licenseError
    4. Test the account directly in Teams sign-in
      • Sign in to Teams in a web browser with the same resource account used on the room device.
      • If the message says the account is missing Teams access, the Teams Rooms license is not active on that account yet.
    5. Allow time for license propagation
      • If the license was changed from a legacy license to Teams Rooms Basic or Teams Rooms Pro, activation can take up to 48 hours.
      • In the Pro Management Portal, new devices can show Syncing, and license information can appear 24 hours after room reboot due to syncing.
    6. If this is an Exchange hybrid environment, verify mailbox synchronization
      • In hybrid deployments, the on-premises mailbox must be synchronized correctly so redirection works.
      • Teams Rooms devices in hybrid also require the mailbox/account configuration to be correct for Exchange calendar access.
    7. If the portal still shows Unlicensed incorrectly, re-check device sign-in state
      • Incorrect Unlicensed status can result from account sign-out or improper sign-in on the device.
      • Re-enter the resource account credentials on the device and confirm the same licensed account is being used.

Most likely causes in this scenario are:

    • the device is signed in with the wrong account,
    • the resource account is not password enabled,
    • the license has not fully synced yet,
    • or the device sign-in state is invalid even though the license is assigned.
