    Hi Patricia Paratore,

Based on your description, this appears to be an Office activation issue rather than a problem with Excel files themselves.

If you're using macOS, it appears that you are experiencing a known issue that prevents Office from opening. The good news is that the issue has been resolved. Please refer to the following article for the recommended fix steps: Unknown Error 0x0 or License not found error in Microsoft 365 or Office running on macOS.

One important requirement to note is that your Mac must be running macOS 12 (Monterey) or later. If you are using an earlier version of macOS, please update the operating system first; otherwise, the fix may not work as expected.

You can also find additional information and community feedback in this discussion thread: 0x0 Error After Mac Update July 14th, 2026 - Microsoft Q&A.

If you encounter any difficulties along the way or this is not your case, please feel free to let me know.
