3 major issues with Windows 11 pro on mini pc

My son bought me this mini pc with Windows 11 Pro... I discovered it was updated from Windows 10 to Windows 11 Pro...

June 22, 2026 - I had to reinstall windows 11. Did not know I had Pro at this time. Downloaded Windows 11. (PS: I thought Windows would only put on the version I had...?) Anyway, after that, everything was fine for about 30 days. Now the last weeks of July, Window Updates fails to download some and fails to install others. Total at this time is 4.

I also have the Shellpoint 7 update that fails to work..."Something went wrong" error... (I am surprised that something this complicated is for the average user to figure out how to install. The instructions are a bit over my head and I am computer savey... Plus the places to download the program most of the time fail or they never install. This should be done through Windows update...

As well I have the pagefile error. Windows creates "0" everytime... No matter what method to correct it, it reverts to zero...

For Windows update, KB5101684... I managed to download this KB file from the catalog site and it installed. Rebooted PC and it still says retry ...

Then I tried search for "KB5100998" from the catalog and nothing happens. Nothing comes up to download...

The last 2 updates have Install error: KB5104032 & KB2467173

I am believing that I need to get Windows update fixed first, Then the pagefile issue and maybe then I can get the Shellpoint 7 issure working... I hope...

At this point I did a search for Updates again and the one dissapeared, apparently it worked but the other 3 still say Retry...

I truly do not know what to do at this point... Thinking I have to reinstall Windows 11 again...

Any advice would be appreciated...

    Hi Steve Borger,

Thank you for providing the detailed information. Since the system was originally upgraded from Windows 10 and has already been reinstalled, the update failures, page file behavior, and software installation issues may be related to Windows update components, system files, or device-specific drivers rather than the Windows installation itself.

To help narrow this down, I recommend these steps:

    1, Run Windows Update Troubleshooter:

    • Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Windows Update > Run
    • Restart the PC and check for updates again.

    2, Repair Windows system files:

    • Open Command Prompt (Admin) and run: DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
    • Then run: sfc /scannow
    • Restart the device after both commands complete.

3, If the same updates continue showing Retry, clear the Windows Update cache:

    • Stop the Windows Update service.
    • Delete the contents of C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution
    • Start the service again and check for updates.

For the page file issue, set Virtual Memory back to System managed size, restart the PC, and check whether the setting persists. If it resets again, please also check for the latest BIOS and chipset updates from the mini PC manufacturer, as firmware or storage-controller drivers can affect virtual memory behavior.
