We are trying to configure a custom URL for our Azure Databricks account as described in the documentation.

Our account details are:

  • Azure Databricks Premium
  • Azure Marketplace (Pay-As-You-Go)
  • Production account
  • Region: West Europe
  • Account age: approximately 3 months
  • Using Unity Catalog / Account Console

When navigating to Account Console → Settings → Account settings, we receive the following message:

"Your account is not eligible for a custom URL. Contact Databricks Support for assistance."

Could you please verify why our account is not eligible and enable the feature if applicable? Thanks

    Hello Haseeb Asif,

Welcome to the Microsoft Q&A and thank you for posting your questions here.

I understand that your Azure Databricks Premium account not eligible for Custom URL.

If the correct account admin is using a valid organizational email domain and the account is genuinely paid and verified, but the account console still shows“Your account is not eligible for a custom URL”, this becomes a backend eligibility/entitlement issue. Open an Azure support request against the affected Azure Databricks subscription/resource via your portal and ask Microsoft/Databricks to validate the account’s custom URL eligibility flag, paid/verified status, admin email-domain classification, and account/tenant mapping. - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/admin/account-settings/custom-url, https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/resources/, and https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/azure-portal/supportability/how-to-create-azure-support-request

I hope this is helpful. Please! Do not hesitate to let me know if you have any other questions, steps or clarifications.

    Hey there, Haseeb Asif

When reading up on Microsoft's documentation about custom URLs for Azure Databricks accounts, this seems to be a feature available in public preview. Please can you check the eligibility for this feature in this article here: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/databricks/admin/account-settings/custom-url#eligibility

In the article, it states the following

Eligible account admins can claim and enable a custom URL directly from the account console. The following eligibility requirements apply: Your account must be a paying, verified customer account. The account admin enabling the custom URL must have a non-reserved domain email address. If you have previously been assigned a custom URL, it will appear automatically in your account settings. To rename your custom URL, contact your Azure Databricks account team.

Please check the article and see if you eligibility and requirements for this. It could be that if you don't meet the requirements somewhere along the way, it will chuck that error at you.

    Hope this helps,
    Nathan
