Dear Microsoft.

Please note the the update KB5121767 is causing pc's to freeze.

My PC was perfectly stable, but installing this specific update caused instant freezes when playing heavy games like MTGA.

Uninstalling the update and running sfc /scan now immediately fixed the problem.

KB5121767 is an out-of-band (OOB) update that addresses an issue affecting a limited number of devices with the Intel Innovation Platform Framework (Intel IPF) driver, which could cause changes in performance, power consumption, or system behavior after installing recent Windows updates.

If your PC was functioning normally before installing this optional update and your device is not affected by the Intel IPF issue, there is generally no need to install KB5121767. Optional out-of-band updates are released to address specific issues and are not required for systems that are not experiencing the problems they fix.

KB5121767 was not presented as an optional update, and is a problem for me, a System Administrator trying to get reimaged computers updated. So is KB5101650, they are taking hours to download, then hours to install. Then failing on multiple computers. I found a solution, if KB5121767 has not been installed.

If partially installed but "stuck", first make Windows forget about the failing updates. From an elevated CMD prompt, run:

net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
net stop cryptsvc

Then open File Explorer and go to C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download.Select all files and delete them to clear out the stalled updates, and restart the computer.

Browse to the Microsoft Update Catalog. Type KB5121767 into the search bar at the top right and click search. Locate the version matching your computer's OS version (e.g., Windows 11 Version 24H2 for x64-based Systems).

You should be offered two links, one for KB5121767 and one for KB5043080. Download both, then run the KB5043080 installer first. If you get "The update is not applicable to your computer." just click OK, then run the KB5121767 installer.

I confirmed that this process works for Dell computers, it should work for any that have the "issue affecting a limited number of devices with an Intel Innovation Platform Framework (Intel IPF) driver" as detailed at https://support.microsoft.com/nb-NO/servicing/os/windows-11/2026/07/kb5121767-out-of-band

What I found was causing the issue on my system was the update KB5121767, it was installing a Audio Processing Component called Voice Clarity which clashed with my Gigabyte on-board Realtek audio driver component next to it which cause my pc to totally freeze every time I lunched a game.

So what I did to fix the issues was to forcefully power down my pc by pressing the power button on my pc case, enter windows 11 and uninstall the update in update history and uninstall and deleted the component next to my other audio driver.

I highly recommend not installing any of Microsoft updates that involves a audio driver or component, rather get drivers from the main source.

Like for example Microsoft has just shown me another audio driver called Microsoft Corporation AudioProcessingObject Driver Update (1.0.4.7057) and I concerned if I install this it going to give m the same issue.

Thankyou for your post, it just helped me too (I Hope), I have a B450 Aorus M Motherboard, issued started around end of July, and been getting system freezes, but also BSOD but all not the same.

I had to uninstall the driver with the following

Check which oemxx.inf is correct ones with command (powershell):

pnputil /enum-drivers


pnputil /delete-driver oemXX.inf /uninstall /force

Im facing a severe stability issue following the installation of update KB5121767 on my custom-built PC (Intel Core i9-14900K, ASUS motherboard).

__Crash Time:__ July 20, 2026, at 3:45 AM
__Issue:__ The system experienced a sudden reboot without displaying a BSOD or generating crash logs.
__Troubleshooting:__ I have already reseated the RAM modules and replaced the Power Supply Unit (PSU) to rule out power delivery or distribution issues, but the instability persists.

This appears to be a compatibility conflict between update KB5121767 and this specific hardware configuration. Please advise on a resolution or incoming patch to restore system stability.
