There were similar issues 8 months ago with the Polish version, and while that thread is silent, I'm still having this issue when I'm trying to input Latvian Š while typing inside Edge! I've completely turned Visual search down, yet when I press this combination, nothing happens. When I've just disabled the shortcut, there were some Visual search toolbar triggers. The problem persists for many months and across macOS and Edge versions.

Current versions:

Edge 148.0.3967.70

MacOS 26.3.1 (25D2128)

Microsoft Edge | Other | MacOS

    Hi Aleksey Shevchuk

I can see how frustrating this is, especially when it stops you from typing a basic character you rely on.

To better narrow this down, could you help confirm a few things?

    • Does Shift + Option + S work correctly (typing “Š”) in other apps like Notes, Safari, or Chrome?
    • Does the issue happen on all websites in Edge, or only certain ones?
    • If you try an InPrivate window or create a new Edge profile, do you see the same behavior?
    • Which keyboard layout/input source are you using on macOS (e.g., Latvian, US International, etc.)?
    • Have you turned off Visual Search both in Edge settings and any related toolbar/feature toggles?

In the meantime, here are a few things you can try:

    • Make sure Edge is fully up to date (Edge menu > About Microsoft Edge).
    • Test in an InPrivate window to rule out extensions or cached settings.
    • Temporarily disable extensions, especially anything related to keyboard shortcuts or input tools.
    • Double-check your macOS keyboard input settings (System Settings > Keyboard > Input Sources).
    • As a quick workaround, try using the Character Viewer (Control + Command + Space) or copy/paste the character “Š” when needed.

While my initial response may not fully resolve the issue, I truly appreciate your cooperation as we work together toward identifying the most effective solution. Thank you so much for your understanding.
