Enable touchscreen

I purchased this laptop and just received it. It is supposed to be touchscreen. However, when I look at the Device Manager and Human controls, there isn't any touchscreen driver to turn on. Is there another way to activate that on this device?

If no touchscreen device or driver appears in Device Manager, there is no way in Windows to “turn on” touch; Windows can only enable or disable hardware that actually exists and is detected.

    To double-check:

    1. Open Device Manager (right-click Start > Device Manager).
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
    3. Look for HID-compliant touch screen or a similar touch device.
      • If it is present but disabled, right-click it and select Enable device.
      • If it is missing entirely, Windows is not detecting any touchscreen hardware.

On devices where touch is present and detected, the touchscreen can be enabled/disabled as follows:

    1. Right-click the Start menu and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand Human Interface Devices.
    3. Right-click HID-compliant touch screen and select Enable device or Disable device.
    4. Repeat for each HID-compliant touch screen entry if there are multiple.

If there is no HID-compliant touch screen entry at all, either:

    • The device does not actually include touchscreen hardware, or
    • The required firmware/driver is missing or not installed by the OEM.

In that case, Windows cannot add or “activate” touch by itself. The next step is to confirm the model’s specifications with the seller or manufacturer and, if it is advertised as touchscreen, contact the OEM or retailer for support or possible return/replacement.
