MS Surface pro

Go to Settings → Time & Language → Language & Region

Click Add a language

Search for and select your desired language, then click Next → Install

Once installed, it appears in your language list

In Language & Region, find the language you want as default

Click the three dots (⋯) next to it → Move up to make it the top/default language

On a Surface Pro running Windows, the keyboard language is controlled by Windows language and keyboard layout settings.

To change the keyboard layout from the taskbar:

1. In the system tray area of the taskbar, select the input language icon (for example, ENG, FRA, etc.).
2. In the pop-up menu, select the desired keyboard layout.
3. The icon changes to show the selected layout.

Keyboard shortcut to switch layouts:

1. Hold down the Windows logo key.
2. While holding it, press the Spacebar.
3. Each press of Spacebar cycles through installed keyboard layouts. If nothing changes, only one layout is installed.

To add or remove keyboard layouts (if the one needed is not listed):

1. Select Start > Settings > Time & language > Language & region (or use the shortcut Open Time & language > Language & region if available).
2. Under Preferred languages, add or configure the language and its keyboard layout as needed.

Note: Changing the Windows display language can also change the default keyboard layout. The keyboard layout can always be switched independently using the input language icon or Windows key + Spacebar.
