Dear @RAfBOy,
Good day, and I appreciate the detailed description of your issue. As a forum moderator, I genuinely wish I could directly access your account or delve into the backend systems to investigate and fix this for you. However, our role here is limited to providing general guidance and solutions that can be applied by users.
From my research, there are a couple of possible causes. Recent macOS updates (such as Tahoe 26.5) introduced stricter security and permission controls, which can sometimes affect file downloads in Microsoft Teams. Another possibility is that the Limited-access user permission lockdown mode feature is enabled on your OneDrive site, which can restrict file access.
Please try the following steps to see if they help:
1.Check Teams on the web
Try downloading the file from Teams on the web (teams.microsoft.com) instead of the desktop app to see if the issue persists.
2.Reset Teams Permissions
- Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security
- Select Files and Folders, then locate Microsoft Teams and uncheck all permissions
- Check Full Disk Access and ensure Teams is enabled
- Quit Teams completely (Command + Q)
- Restart your Mac
- Open Teams again and re-grant all requested permissions
3.Clear Teams Cache
- Quit Teams (Command + Q)
- In the Finder, open the /Applications/Utilities folder, and then double-click Terminal.
- Enter the following commands, and press Return after each command:
rm -rf ~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.com.microsoft.teams
rm -rf ~/Library/Containers/com.microsoft.teams2
- Restart Teams.

4.Reinstall Teams
- Uninstall Teams (drag it to Trash)
- Download the latest version from the official Microsoft or Apple source
- Install it again
5.Check Limited-access user permission lockdown mode (OneDrive)
- Sign into your OneDrive site.
- Select the Setting icon in the upper-right corner of the screen.
- Select OneDrive Settings > More Settings.
- Under Features and storage, select Site Collection Features.
- Locate Limited-access user permission lockdown mode, and then select Deactivate.
You may also consider running the Microsoft self-diagnostics tool to help identify potential issues with accessing files shared in Teams chat. This tool can check for configuration or permission-related problems and provide guidance based on the results. Note: this diagnostic tool requires administrator credentials, so you may need to ask your IT admin to run it or grant access if you are not an admin. If you don't know who your IT administrator is, please refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support

I hope this information is helpful. Please follow these steps and let me know if it works for you. If not, we can work together to resolve this. Thank you for your patience and understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please feel free to share them in the comments so I can continue to support you. I'm looking forward to your reply.
