I don't hear any sound from my computer except for when it's a bluetooth device, how can I fix this? I've tried looking through drivers and everything but nothing needs updating and it's all there. On the system sound settings, when audio is playing the bar moves but I'm unable to hear anything.

    Greetings!

This is Tin, looks like the build in speaker is not working on your device. May I know when did the issue start? Is there any changes made before you got this issue?

Please send the make and model of your device. (Please press Windows key + R and type msinfo32 and hit enter, look for system model)

If the steps above didn't fix your issue, you will be needing to install the driver from the manufacturer website. Please let me know the make and model so I can help you to get the link where you can download it.

    Thanks,

    Tin

Use the following checks and fixes in Windows 11 to restore sound from the built‑in/output devices (non‑Bluetooth):

    1. Confirm the correct output device is selected
      1. Click the Sound icon in the taskbar.
      2. In the output list, select the non‑Bluetooth device you want to use (for example, “Speakers (Realtek Audio)” or monitor speakers).
      3. Then go to Start > Settings > System > Sound.
      4. Under Output, make sure your speakers/monitor (not the Bluetooth device) are selected.
    2. Check volume and mute state
      1. In Settings > System > Sound, verify the Master volume is turned up.
      2. Scroll down to Volume mixer and make sure the app you are testing with is not muted and is using the correct output device.
    3. Adjust audio format
      1. Right‑click the Sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
      2. Open the Playback tab.
      3. Select your non‑Bluetooth output device (speakers/monitor) and click Properties.
      4. Go to the Advanced tab.
      5. Under Default Format, set it to 2 channel, 16 bit, 48000 Hz (DVD Quality).
      6. Click Apply, then OK.
    4. Unplug/disable Bluetooth temporarily and test
      1. Go to Start > Settings > Bluetooth & devices.
      2. Turn Bluetooth off.
      3. Play audio again and confirm the bar still moves in System > Sound and whether sound now comes from the speakers.
    5. Reinstall or update the audio driver Even if Device Manager reports drivers are “working,” reinstalling can fix silent output:
      1. Right‑click Start and select Device Manager.
      2. Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
      3. Right‑click your main audio device (for example, Realtek(R) Audio or similar) and choose Uninstall device.
      4. Restart the PC; Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.
      5. If sound still does not work, download the latest audio driver from the PC or motherboard manufacturer’s support site and install it, then restart.
    6. Run the audio/Bluetooth troubleshooters if needed
      1. Open the Get Help app and run the Bluetooth or audio troubleshooter using the "Run the troubleshooter in Get Help" entry in the Bluetooth article. It will automatically run diagnostics and attempt to fix sound routing issues.

If audio works only on Bluetooth, the most common causes are: wrong default output device, incorrect audio format on the speakers, or a corrupted audio driver. The steps above address each of these.
