It seems you are experiencing an issue with the Microsoft Authenticator app where you are prompted for a number but do not see a box to enter it. In this case, please ensure that you are using the latest version of the Authenticator app, as updates can sometimes resolve such issues. Additionally, if you are signing in on the same device where the Authenticator app is installed, you should receive a notification that allows you to approve the sign-in directly without needing to enter a number.

If the issue persists, consider the following steps:

    1. Check for App Updates: Make sure your Authenticator app is updated to the latest version.
    2. Reinstall the App: Uninstall and then reinstall the Authenticator app to reset its settings.
    3. Use a Different Device: Try signing in from a different device to see if the issue is specific to the current device.
    4. Contact Support: If none of the above steps work, you may need to contact Microsoft support for further assistance.

These steps should help you resolve the issue with the Authenticator app.
