I turned on my surface book 3 and all ports not working except the USB c port and it's not allowing data transfer just shows charging. I haven't done any updates recently used it the previous day

If your Surface Book 3's USB ports have stopped working, there are several troubleshooting steps you can take:

    1. Restart Your Device: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary issues with hardware.
    2. Check for Physical Damage: Inspect the USB ports for any visible damage or debris that might be obstructing the connection.
    3. Update Drivers: Ensure that your device drivers are up to date. You can check for updates in the Windows Update settings.
    4. Power Cycle the Device: Shut down your Surface Book 3, unplug it, and hold the power button for 30 seconds. Then, plug it back in and turn it on.
    5. Check USB Settings: If you have access to the Surface UEFI settings, check if USB ports are disabled. You can refer to the Surface UEFI documentation for guidance on how to access and modify these settings.
    6. Test with Different Devices: Try connecting different USB devices to see if the issue persists across all devices.
    7. Use USB-C Port for Data: Since you mentioned that the USB-C port is only charging, ensure that the device you are connecting supports data transfer over USB-C. Some cables or devices may only support charging.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be necessary to seek professional assistance or contact Microsoft support for further diagnostics.
