Controlling settings, permissions, and membership within Teams and channels
Hi @Joanna
Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.
It appears you're looking to manage members within your school's track team on Microsoft Teams, and your coach would like to grant you the necessary permissions.
If your coach created a Class Team (which is common in educational settings), then:
- Only teachers (owners) can manage members and settings.
- Students (members) cannot be promoted to owners by default.
However, if the team was created as a standard team (not a Class Team), your coach can simply promote you to an owner. This will allow you to add or remove members, manage channels, and adjust team settings.
Here's how your coach can do that:
- Open Microsoft Teams and go to the track team.
- Click the three dots next to the team's name.
- Select Manage team.
- Under the Members tab, find your name.
- Change your role from Member to Owner.
