Surface DUO on Verizon

I purchased a DUO when they came out but had to return. I am on Verizon and did not have the ability to enable wi-fi calling. At that time the DUO was on the Verizon website but listed as not available. It is not even on the Verizon website anymore. There were many calling features that were not available. I will not buy it until it is on the Verizon website with full support. Does anyone have information when this might happen? AT&T is not available where I live and my secondary work location does not have good Verizon signal.

    I purchased the Surface duo from Microsoft with a Verizon sim card. It was easily attached to my existing Verizon account. The service was intermittent, far worse than my Galaxy that it replaced. I found out last week that the Surface duo does not support CDMA, the major network used by Verizon, hence the poor service. I live in mid coast Maine. Does anyone know more about this issue. This information came from the Verizon sales person when I went to install wi-fi calling, which Verizon supports but the Duo does not with Verizon. Can anyone help?

    That is interesting that you had the option to even enable wi-fi calling, I did not. I even spoke to both Duo and Verizon support. I knew the area I was in had weak signal so that was not the fault of the phone.

    Thanks, I am watching the release. Where I live Verizon is the main carrier, no AT&T. When I bought the first one it was coming soon on verizon so I purchased from msft. Good thing I did as I took advantage of their return policy. Msft blamed verizon and verizon blamed msft. I will watch to see if it shows up on the verizon website and purchase through from them so they have to support it :)

    I got a similar response after about 15 hours of discussions. I finally talked to a knowledgeable tech support person in Morocco of all places. She knew the specs and the technology. What it basically boiled down to was Verizon designed the specs to be CDMA-less and apparently that blocks VoIP. I could reset the phone to the factory defaults and try to enable the VoIP from the phone side after Verizon enabled it on my account. She said it might sneak through, and might not, but no way to guarantee.

    This is interesting insight because I am also having reception issues. I enabled wifi calling with Verizon today, but so far it has not shown up as provisioned on the phone. When I got the phone it was CDMA enabled, but you had to disable it to get some of the texting features to work correctly as I remember.

    This is a great product, but perhaps terrible execution by MSFT. Verizon is a major carrier, obviously, so why would MSFT introduce the phone without full features on Verizon?
